FlexTrades is hiring experienced CNC Mill Machinists for nationwide project-based assignments supporting precision machining and complex component manufacturing.

This role is designed for machinists who can independently set up and operate 3-axis CNC vertical mills, prove out new programs and produce tight-tolerance components from demanding materials.

Position Overview

The CNC Mill Machinist will set up and operate 3-axis vertical mills while supporting program prove-outs, first piece inspections and ongoing production.

This position requires strong setup skills, blueprint and GD&T knowledge, and hands-on experience machining stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, composites and high nickel alloys.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate 3-axis CNC vertical mills
Prove out new CNC programs
Prepare CNC machines for production
Perform first piece inspections
Support FPI and FAI activities
Read and interpret blueprints
Follow setup sheets and routers
Read and interpret technical drawings
Machine stainless steel components
Machine titanium components
Machine aluminum components
Machine composite materials
Machine high nickel alloy materials
Verify part quality using precision measuring instruments
Maintain tight dimensional tolerances
Maintain established quality standards
Deburr machined parts as required
Polish and clean completed parts
Troubleshoot machining issues
Troubleshoot setup issues during production
Train and mentor less experienced machinists as needed

Qualifications

Experience setting up CNC milling machines
Experience operating CNC milling machines
Experience operating 3-axis vertical mills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Working knowledge of G-code and M-code
Experience using calipers
Experience using micrometers
Experience using dial indicators
Experience using gage pins
Experience using precision scales
Knowledge of GD&T
Experience machining high nickel alloy materials
Ability to work in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment

This role is designed for inspectors with active IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications who have hands-on experience inspecting PCBs, PCBAs and CCAs. Candidates should be comfortable working under magnification, evaluating high-density surface mount assemblies and identifying solder and component defects against established acceptance criteria.

Position Overview

The Inspector will perform detailed visual inspections of electronic assemblies using IPC-A-610 standards and customer-specific requirements.

This position requires experience inspecting small components and fine-pitch assemblies, recognizing acceptable and defective solder conditions, documenting nonconformances and maintaining accurate inspection records within an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Inspect surface mount circuit boards using IPC-A-610 standards
Apply customer-specific inspection and acceptance requirements
Perform detailed visual inspections using microscopes at 20x magnification or greater
Inspect solder joints for acceptable and defective conditions
Verify component placement
Inspect assemblies for exposed copper
Identify scratches and other surface defects
Inspect conformal coating and other applicable quality characteristics
Review inspection documents and drawings
Review photographs and established acceptance criteria
Identify and document defects and nonconforming conditions
Separate accepted and rejected units based on inspection results
Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation
Use microscopes, tweezers, computers and inspection tools
Work within an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment
Follow cleanroom requirements
Follow foreign object debris control requirements

Qualifications

Active IPC-A-610 certification
Active J-STD-001 certification
Experience inspecting PCBs, PCBAs or CCAs in a manufacturing environment
Experience inspecting high-density surface mount circuit boards
Experience working with small electronic components including 0402 components or smaller
Ability to recognize acceptable and defective solder conditions
Understanding of lead-free solder characteristics
Understanding of tin-lead solder characteristics
Experience using microscopes for electronic inspection
Strong attention to detail
Strong documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience inspecting fine-pitch electronic assemblies

Position Overview

The CNC HBM Machinist sets up and operates large-format CNC horizontal boring mills and floor mills to machine large weldments, forgings, plate steel and fabricated components.

This position requires experience with Fanuc controls, G-code and M-code programming, tooling management and precision inspection. Setup times may range from 30 minutes to 10 hours depending on the size and complexity of the component.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate large-format CNC horizontal boring mills
Operate floor-type and table-type HBM machines
Set up and operate CNC floor mills
Read and interpret blueprints, prints and setup documentation
Complete machine setups ranging from 30 minutes to 10 hours
Machine large weldments, forgings, plate steel and fabricated components
Make offsets and adjustments for tool wear
Adjust feeds and speeds as required
Change, load and manage tooling during setups and changeovers
Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments
Verify that machined parts meet specified tolerances
Hold tolerances as tight as .001 inch
Operate overhead cranes for material handling and part positioning
Troubleshoot machining issues
Solve setup and production problems independently
Follow established safety, quality and manufacturing procedures

Qualifications

Experience setting up and operating CNC horizontal boring mills
Experience with floor-type or table-type HBM equipment
Proficiency using Fanuc controls
Working knowledge of G-code and M-code
Ability to set up parts from blueprints and prints
Experience machining large weldments and fabricated components
Ability to make machine offsets and tool wear adjustments
Experience completing complex machine setups
Experience working with long machine cycle times
Ability to inspect parts using precision measuring equipment
