CNC Mill Machinist
FlexTrades is hiring experienced CNC Mill Machinists for nationwide project-based manufacturing assignments supporting precision machining operations.
This role is designed for machinists who can independently set up CNC mills, run proven programs, make tooling adjustments and inspect finished parts to documented specifications and tolerances.
Position Overview
The CNC Mill Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring CNC milling equipment while maintaining production quality and accuracy.
This position requires hands-on experience with vertical mills, horizontal mills or both, along with strong blueprint reading skills, GD&T knowledge and the ability to perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines
- Run proven CNC programs and monitor machining operations
- Make tooling offsets and adjustments as required
- Dial in parts to meet specified dimensions and tolerances
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Follow setup sheets and inspection documentation
- Perform first-piece inspections
- Complete in-process quality checks
- Use micrometers, height gauges and Micro View equipment
- Select appropriate inspection tools based on documented requirements
- Complete required production documentation
- Complete required quality and inspection records
- Perform basic machine maintenance
- Check and maintain coolant levels
- Change chip bins as required
Qualifications
- Experience setting up and operating CNC mills
- Experience with vertical mills, horizontal mills or both
- Experience with 3-axis machining
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Experience performing first-piece inspections
- Experience completing in-process inspections
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment
- 4th-axis rotary machining experience preferred
- Experience with tombstone or pallet-based horizontal mill setups preferred
- CMM experience preferred
