Job Summary

As a Debug Technician with FlexTrades, you’ll be responsible for identifying and resolving hardware issues across large-scale server and compute rack systems. You will run automated diagnostic tests, interpret results, troubleshoot hardware issues, and implement simple fixes or escalate more complex problems to Production or Test Engineering teams. This role is ideal for experienced hardware technicians who understand firmware operations, Linux command-line environments, and enterprise-scale computing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run automated diagnostic tests on compute/server racks and interpret results
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware issues—no software troubleshooting required
  • Replace or re-route simple hardware issues (e.g., bad cable, faulty component)
  • Escalate unresolved issues to Production or Test Engineering
  • Analyze Linux command-line data and system logs to identify failures
  • Access and follow debug scripts, WIKI content, and reference documentation
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hardware across up to 100 server cabinets simultaneously
  • Occasionally work on a 3-step stool or ladder to access 7-foot-tall racks

Candidate Requirements

    As a Precision Grinder with FlexTrades, you’ll set up and operate Studer cylindrical grinding machines to perform complex ID and OD grinding on a variety of parts and materials. You’ll use advanced tools and inspection equipment to hold tolerances as tight as .0003? and ensure surface finishes meet stringent quality requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Set up and operate the following Studer precision grinding machines with Fanuc controls:
    • S145 Cylindrical ID Grinder (turret-type with 4 internal grinding spindles)
    • S33 Cylindrical OD Grinder (turret wheel head for external grinding)
    • S45 Angle Head Grinder
  • Perform ID and OD grinding operations on parts ranging from 1? to 16? in length and up to 8? in diameter
  • Grind parts using aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, and CBN wheels (16? diameter)
  • Work with parts made from stainless steel, aluminum, low carbon steel, and coated materials (E-nickel, anodized, hard coat)
  • Maintain tolerances down to .0003? and achieve surface finishes of 16 or better (with some work requiring 8 or 4 finishes)
  • Load parts manually (2–10 lbs.) from shelves or previous operations
  • Follow detailed setup sheets, process drawings, and blueprints with GD&T callouts including runout, position, profile, and perpendicularity
  • Conduct in-process and final quality checks using tools such as:
  • Micrometers, calipers, Starrett optical comparator, height gauges
  • Indicator setups, swede gages, plug gauges, pin gauges, and gage blocks

    Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating precision ID and OD grinding machinery
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and interpreting engineering prints
  • Ability to maintain tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
  • Familiarity with various metals and coatings, including post-heat-treated materials
  • Comfortable working in high-mix, low-volume environments
  • Able to work independently and follow established setup documentation
