Mill Turn Machinist
FlexTrades is hiring Mill Turn Machinists for project-based assignments supporting advanced multi-axis machining operations across the United States. This role is built for machinists who can handle complex setups, edit programs at the machine, and maintain tight tolerances on precision components in high-mix production environments.
If you are comfortable running 5-axis mill-turn equipment, troubleshooting setups independently, and managing multiple machines without sacrificing quality, this is your lane.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 5-axis DMG Mori and Mazak mill-turn machines
- Operate equipment using Fanuc and Mazatrol controls with G-code programming
- Make program edits, offsets, and machine adjustments as required
- Manage two machines simultaneously, including long setup cycles lasting 4 to 5 hours
- Machine complex aluminum and stainless steel components
- Hold tight tolerances down to ±0.0005 inch in small batch production runs
- Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and GD&T requirements
- Perform in-process and first article inspections
- Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMM equipment
Qualifications
- Strong G-code experience required
- Experience operating 5-axis mill-turn machining centers
- Ability to edit programs and troubleshoot machine setups independently
- Proficiency reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T requirements
- Strong manual inspection and measurement skills
- Ability to work independently in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment
