Machinist

FlexTrades is hiring Machinists for project-based assignments supporting high-mix, low-volume machining environments. This role is built for machinists who can set up their own machines, hold tight tolerances, and move between jobs without losing control of quality.
If you are comfortable working from prints, making offsets on proven programs, and machining precision parts in stainless and aluminum, this is your lane.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC 3-axis milling machines
- Set up and operate CNC 2-axis lathes
- Perform independent machine setups for a variety of part configurations
- Make offsets and adjustments on proven programs to maintain part quality
- Machine stainless steel and aluminum components to tight tolerances
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools throughout production
- Follow detailed blueprints, GD&T requirements, and work instructions
- Support high-mix, low-volume production with frequent job changes
- Move materials safely using carts or small cranes as required
- Maintain documentation and adhere to quality procedures
Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC 3-axis mills
- Experience operating CNC 2-axis lathes
- Ability to independently perform machine setups
- Ability to read and interpret inch-based blueprints and GD&T
- Experience inspecting parts using precision measuring tools
- Experience machining stainless steel and aluminum
- Ability to hold tight tolerances, including ±0.0002 inch
Requirements
- Ability to make offsets and adjustments on established programs
- No programming or feed and speed changes required
- Comfortable working in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment
- Willingness to complete Operator Acceptance Program requirements
- Ability to follow detailed documentation and quality procedures
- Ability to safely move materials using carts or small cranes
Preferred Experience
- Experience with 4th-axis or rotary tables
- Experience with live tooling or dual-spindle lathes
