Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Davenport Model B automatic screw machines
  • Perform manual physical changeovers by removing and installing multiple components to prepare machines for new parts
  • Re sharpen cutting tools and drills or replace tooling as needed
  • Complete setups and changeovers typically taking 1 to 4 hours per machine
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while handling dirty, greasy, and oily tasks
  • Work in alignment with all company standards and procedures

Requirements

  • Direct experience setting up and operating automatic screw machines with Davenport preferred
  • Ability to perform manual hands on machine adjustments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with cam driven systems
  • Comfortable working in a physical industrial environment

FlexTrades is hiring Tool & Die Technicians for nationwide project-based assignments supporting high-volume stamping and precision tooling operations. This role is built for technicians who understand how critical well-maintained dies are to uptime, quality, and production flow. If you know how to troubleshoot issues on the press, perform full die maintenance in the tool room, and keep complex tooling running the way it should, this role fits your skill set.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair progressive and transfer stamping dies
  • Troubleshoot die issues both in the press and in the tool room
  • Perform preventive maintenance using prints, procedures, and schedules
  • Inspect, assemble, disassemble, and shim die components as required
  • Support production by responding to press calls and collaborating with other Tool and Die Makers
  • Operate pendant-controlled overhead cranes and manual machines
  • Document all work performed in Plex

Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing stamping dies in both press and tool room environments
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on progressive and transfer dies and read strip layouts to diagnose and correct issues
  • Experience operating pendant-controlled overhead cranes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and detailed die prints
  • Proficient use of precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges
  • Ability to convert between metric and standard measurements
  • Experience operating manual lathes, mills, and grinders
  • Ability to assemble, disassemble, and properly shim die components
  • Demonstrated capability performing full die maintenance and repair beyond basic cleaning or component changes

Preferred

  • TIG welding experience
  • Experience working with quality inspections or CMM reports

  • Inspect products and equipment to ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Use equipment manuals and digital resources to support maintenance activities
  • Follow GMP standards and maintain compliance with facility procedures

Qualifications

  • Experience with 3-Piece Weld can manufacturing preferred; traditional can manufacturing experience considered
  • Strong mechanical maintenance and repair skills; electrical knowledge is a plus
  • Experience using precision measuring tools in both metric and imperial measurements
  • Ability to read maintenance manuals and mechanical schematics
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 12 feet
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and HMI system interaction
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
