Responsibilities

  • Fit, tack, and weld components to ASME Section VIII standards
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and automated MIG welding per WPS requirements
  • Complete groove and fillet welds in all positions, including occasional 6GR
  • Weld carbon steel parts such as plate, pipe, nozzles, and brackets
  • Read and interpret blueprints, AWS symbols, and WPS documents
  • Inspect welds visually using gauges to ensure quality
  • Clean, grind, and finish welds to meet standards
  • Operate shop equipment including overhead cranes and pallet jacks
  • Set up fixtures and ensure proper alignment
  • Perform both fixtured and freehand welding with precision
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean workspace

Qualifications

  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding
  • Automated welding experience is a plus
  • Ability to weld in all positions, including vertical and overhead
  • Experience working with carbon steel in fabrication settings
  • Ability to read technical drawings, AWS symbols, and WPS documents
  • Comfortable with metric and imperial measurements
  • Metric measurement experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus
  • Experience with weld inspection, grinding, and finishing
  • Ability to operate or learn shop equipment, including cranes

This role is built for welders who understand automated welding processes, can maintain consistent weld quality on thick materials, and are comfortable working with oversized components in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate automated sub arc welding equipment and manage weld parameters through a control interface
  • Weld circular and longitudinal seams on large steel tower sections while monitoring flux flow and weld quality
  • Work from a seated operator station positioned 12 to 20 feet above the ground for extended periods depending on weld type
  • Follow detailed work instructions including weld settings, sequence steps, and safety procedures
  • Move between seated and standing positions to inspect weld seams and verify proper machine operation during each pass
  • Use remote-operated overhead cranes to position and transfer large steel sections during setup

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions written in metric units
  • Experience performing submerged arc welding on heavy steel materials required
  • Comfortable working at heights of 12 to 20 feet for extended periods
  • Ability to complete a hands-on weld test using provided instructions and equipment
  • Experience handling multiple weld passes on thick steel sections, including repetitive cycles lasting 20 minutes or longer
  • Ability to work within production tracking systems to log job start and stop times and record part information

This opportunity is ideal for experienced TIG Welders with strong stainless steel welding, fitting, tacking, blueprint reading and finishing skills. Candidates must be comfortable producing high-quality welds, working in tight or hard-to-reach areas and meeting strict quality and production standards.

Position Overview

The TIG Welder will perform TIG welding, fitting, assembly, grinding and finishing on stainless steel components and assemblies. This role requires hands-on experience with 304 and/or 316 stainless steel, strong fabrication skills and the ability to interpret weld symbols, blueprints and fabrication drawings.

  • Experience welding sheet and plate materials from 12-gauge to 3/8-inch
  • Strong fitting, tacking, fabrication and mechanical skills
  • Ability to perform grinding and cosmetic finishing
  • Comfortable working in hard-to-reach welding areas
  • Experience with pipe and tube welding is a plus
  • Experience with ASME tank, vessel, skid or process piping fabrication preferred
  • Must be able to pass a 6G TIG stainless pipe weld test and 1G MIG stainless plate weld test
