This role is designed for professionals with hands-on experience preparing surfaces, applying epoxy and urethane coatings, operating airless spray equipment and inspecting finished work for quality.
Position Overview
The Painter prepares, coats and inspects manufactured parts and assemblies in a production paint environment.
This position requires experience with surface preparation, masking, airless spray application and film thickness verification. Painters will also perform touch-up work, correct finish defects and maintain coating equipment and work areas.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping and masking
- Complete coating preparation before paint application
- Apply epoxy and urethane coatings using airless spray equipment
- Spray coatings to required film thickness specifications
- Measure and verify wet film thickness using inspection gauges
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects
- Perform touch-up work as needed
- Troubleshoot coating application and finish-quality issues
- Complete masking and rework activities
- Rig and position parts for painting operations
- Clean and maintain paint equipment
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Support housekeeping activities
- Follow established safety procedures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Industrial or manufacturing painting experience
- Experience working in a paint booth environment
- Experience using airless spray systems
- Experience applying epoxy coatings
- Experience applying urethane or polyurethane coatings
- Knowledge of surface preparation and coating application techniques
- Ability to perform paint touch-ups and correct coating defects
- Ability to inspect coatings and verify quality requirements

- Ability to work from manufacturing orders and process instructions

- Operate powder-coating equipment
- Load, unload and stage parts throughout the coating process
- Prepare components prior to coating

- Perform rework when required to meet quality standards
