FlexTrades is hiring HBM Machinists for nationwide project-based assignments supporting large-format machining and precision manufacturing operations. This role is built for machinists who understand horizontal boring mills, can manage setups independently, and hold tight tolerances on heavy components without constant oversight.
If you are comfortable machining large forgings, castings, or weldments and can take ownership of your work from setup through inspection, this opportunity aligns with your skill set.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills, including 3-axis to 5-axis machines with Fanuc controls
- Follow setup sheets, blueprints, and GD&T requirements to produce accurate parts
- Perform drilling, boring, facing, and milling operations on large components
- Handle parts ranging from 5,000 to 40,000+ pounds using overhead cranes
- Inspect your own work using micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision tools
- Monitor tool wear, perform offsets, and complete deburring as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting team operations
Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC horizontal boring mills required
- Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T principles
- Proficient working in either metric or standard measurement systems
- Experience machining forgings, castings, or weldments
- Comfortable working with large components and long machining cycles
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently
- No personal tools required, all tooling is provided
