Position Summary

As an HBM Machinist with FlexTrades, you’ll set up and operate large horizontal boring mills, work with stainless and carbon steels, and use a variety of precision tools to meet tight tolerances. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy complex setups, precision machining, and working independently in high-performance environments.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a FPT M-ARX Horizontal Boring Mill (5-axis, Fanuc 31i controls)
  • Perform precision machining on stainless steel 304, carbon steel, and forged components
  • Operate using machine specs: 238” X x 118” Y x 90” Z/W with a 6” spindle and 50hp head
  • Utilize a 60-position ATC, multi-axis head, and rotary table (98” x 118”)
  • Make accurate offsets and machine adjustments (no program editing required)
  • Collaborate with programmers during new job setups and verification
  • Deburr straight edges, ID/OD, and holes using various hand and power tools
  • Operate a 200-ton overhead crane and forklift during part and fixture setups
  • Interpret paper and digital blueprints with GD&T callouts (parallelism, perpendicularity, datums, flatness, etc.)
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other hand tools

Requirements

  • 5-axis HBM machining experience is required
  • Must have experience using Fanuc controls
  • Proficient in deburring using a variety of tools (die grinder, files, scotch brite, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, surface finishes (32, 63, 125), and standard machining practices
  • Ability to make offsets and tooling swaps (2 to 7 swaps per setup)
  • Must supply your own precision tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.)
  • Comfortable working from setup sheets, blueprints, and tool lists
  • Experience with forged components is a plus
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Pay and Benefits

  • $40/hour + Guaranteed Weekly Overtime (paid at time and a half)
  • Paid travel to and from job sites

  • $45/day per diem
