X-Ray Operator PCB Inspection Jobs Nationwide

FlexTrades is hiring experienced X-Ray Operators to support high-precision PCB inspection projects across the United States. This role is built for technicians who understand electronic assembly quality, IPC standards, and the discipline required to verify automated inspection results with confidence. If you know how to interpret 2D x-ray imaging and separate real defects from machine false calls, this is your lane.

Position Overview

As an X-Ray Operator, you will operate Vitrox x-ray equipment to inspect printed circuit boards using pre-loaded programs while validating automated inspection results. This role requires technical judgment, familiarity with IPC 610 standards, and hands-on experience working with SMT and through-hole technologies in high-reliability environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate Vitrox x-ray inspection systems using established programs
  • Review black and white 2D x-ray images to confirm or reject automated pass and fail determinations
  • Compare suspected defects against PCB prints, drawings, and documented quality requirements
  • Inspect for solder defects, voids, misalignment, missing components, BGA issues, hole fill concerns, and other PCB quality conditions
  • Work with SMT and through-hole technologies on Class 2 and Class 3 boards
  • Document inspection activity in computer-based shop floor systems

Requirements

  • Experience operating PCB x-ray inspection equipment using 2D imaging
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC 610 inspection standards
  • Ability to interpret x-ray results and distinguish true defects from machine false calls
  • Experience working with SMT and through-hole components, including leaded and lead-free solder
  • Comfortable using HMI screens and manufacturing software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active or previous IPC 610 certification, with recertification available onsite
  • Experience inspecting complex or fine-pitch multi-layer PCBs
