Position Overview

The ID Grinder is responsible for setting up and operating precision grinding equipment across multiple production areas. This includes finish-grinding internal and external components while maintaining tight dimensional and geometric tolerances in accordance with engineering specifications and control plans.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate precision grinding equipment for internal and external components
  • Perform finish-grinding operations to meet tight dimensional and geometric requirements
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, and inspection documentation to ensure compliance
  • Inspect completed parts using micrometers, gauges, and other metrology tools
  • Follow established control plans and document inspection results as required
  • Dress, true, and sharpen grinding wheels to maintain production standards
  • Perform tool offsets, changeovers, and machine adjustments to maintain part quality
  • Safely handle raw materials and finished parts, including operation of overhead lifting equipment

Qualifications

  • Direct experience setting up and operating precision grinding equipment
  • Ability to hold extremely tight tolerances and meet strict quality standards
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T specifications
  • Skilled use of measurement tools including micrometers, gauges, and optical inspection equipment
  • Experience dressing and maintaining grinding wheels and adjusting machine offsets
  • Comfortable performing changeovers and managing tool life in a production environment
  • Ability to safely lift and maneuver materials and operate lifting devices as required
