FlexTrades is hiring skilled Mold Repair Technicians for project-based contract roles across the United States. Immediate travel assignments are available in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Position Summary
As a Mold Repair Technician with FlexTrades, you will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair injection molds (1–16 cavity, valve gate hot runner tools) used in precision production. You’ll work directly at the press and offline, assess tooling issues, perform TIG weld repairs, and support mold prove-outs post-repair. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, mold diagnostics experience, and a hands-on repair background.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair injection molds (1–16 cavitation, valve gate hot runner systems)
- Accurately determine if molds can be repaired in the press or need to be pulled
- Perform TIG welding repairs on mold components (no fabrication welding)
- Participate in mold prove-outs post-repair with setup and process teams
- Conduct last piece assessments using documented checklists during mold changeovers
- Review and interpret electronic mold drawings and 3D models (imperial units)
- Reference standard and electronic prints as part of all repair operations
- Operate 10–15 ton overhead cranes and perform rigging (training provided)
- Provide general mold maintenance support and component fabrication as needed
- May assist in the fabrication of new components using Mastercam or CNC equipment (preferred but not required)
- Support Maintenance Technicians by fabricating or repairing mold-related components
- Use personal toolsets (standard maintenance tools and gauges); toolbox allowed on-site
Qualifications
- Proven experience repairing valve gate hot runner molds with similar size and cavitation
- Proficient in TIG welding a variety of mold materials
- Ability to evaluate and respond to machine calls regarding mold performance
- Experience using overhead cranes and safe rigging practices
- Comfortable using electronic drawings, prints, and 3D models for reference
- Familiarity with Mastercam and CNC equipment is a plus
- Basic computer skills and ability to navigate documentation electronically
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
Pay and Benefits
- $42/hour base pay
- Guaranteed overtime each week (paid at time and a half)
- Paid travel to and from job sites
- Paid lodging (single-occupancy hotel room)
- $45/day per diem
- Access to full suite of benefits

- Assignments range from 3 months to 1 year
- 2nd and 3rd shift availability (50+ hours/week)
