If you specialize in stainless steel welding of thin-walled tube and sheet components and are looking for your next high-paying opportunity, this is it. Work on exhaust systems, engine mounts, and muffler assemblies for top-tier manufacturing clients while earning top pay and guaranteed overtime.

Position Summary

As a TIG Welder with FlexTrades, you’ll layout, fit, tack, and weld stainless steel, Chromalloy, and aluminum components — mostly thin-walled tubes and sheet metal. Precision, consistency, and strong visual inspection skills are essential, as each weld must meet tight tolerances for form, fit, and function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Layout, fit, tack, and TIG weld all components using Miller 210s and 280s with foot pedal control
  • Weld components such as exhaust assemblies, engine mounts, and muffler shells
  • Work with stainless steel (75%), Chromalloy, and aluminum tube and sheet materials
  • Weld thin-walled tubing (ranging from 0.035? to 0.065?) and dissimilar thicknesses (16g–20g)
  • Perform both freehand and fixtured welding, including out-of-position welds (no overhead welding)
  • Cope/join tubes end-to-end and end-to-side using chop saws, belt sanders, and other tools
  • Interpret drawings and blueprints that include AWS weld symbols for setup and execution
  • Execute fillet and groove welds across a variety of joint types and geometries
  • Use rotators to assist in part positioning and ensure clean, consistent welds
  • Perform 100% visual inspections on all welds; execute FPI testing as required
  • Sign off on weld quality and completed quantities daily
  • Participate in rework operations as needed on both self-produced and peer weldments

Required Experience

  • Proven TIG welding experience on stainless steel, Chromalloy, and aluminum components
  • Proficient with both tube-to-tube and tube-to-sheet welding
  • Must be able to weld materials thinner than 0.065”
  • Comfortable with out-of-position welding tasks
  • Strong understanding of AWS weld symbols and blueprint interpretation
  • Ability to perform layout and fitting as part of the weld process
  • Familiarity with welding dissimilar thickness materials
  • Must complete and pass four weld qualification tests within the first 1–2 days

Tools and Materials

  • Tubes: 1” to 4.5” in diameter, most commonly 1 ¾”
  • Materials come pre-kitted to the weld cell
  • Tools provided for cutting, sanding, and shaping parts to fit prior to welding

Pay and Benefits

  • $32/hour base pay
  • Guaranteed overtime each week (paid at time and a half)
  • Paid travel to and from job sites
  • Paid lodging (single-occupancy hotel room)
  • $45/day per diem
  • Access to a full suite of benefits
  • Flexible time off between assignments
  • Assignments range from 3 months to 1 year
  • 2nd and 3rd shift availability (50+ hours/week)

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass all pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
