Job Summary
As a Maintenance Electrician with FlexTrades, you’ll work primarily in processing environments where ingredients are mixed, blended, heat-treated, and dried using complex systems of pumps, valves, sensors, and automation. You’ll troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, support preventative and reactive maintenance tasks, and work alongside FTEs to share best practices and mentor junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment in processing and packaging areas
- Perform manual and controls-based troubleshooting on highly automated systems
- Execute preventative and reactive maintenance using SAP work orders
- Work primarily in processing areas with occasional support in packaging and facilities
- Support electrical systems across pumps, valves, heat exchangers, dryers, and automation tools
- Read and interpret work instructions, machine manuals, and electrical prints (as available)
- Use Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley PLCs (Series 5 to 5000)
- Focused experience required with Allen Bradley 5000 series PLCs (troubleshooting only)
- Work with ABB and Allen Bradley PowerFlex VFDs
- Handle automation instrumentation for temperature, level, pressure, and flow
- (Optional) Perform calibration tasks using simulators, amp meters, and pressure testers
- Mentor FTEs by demonstrating best practices and guiding hands-on troubleshooting steps
- Perform manual repairs and hands-on diagnostics in FDA-regulated environments
- Comply with GMP standards and maintain cleanliness and safety at all times
Tools, Systems, & Environment
- Voltages up to 480V, 3-phase
- Use of SAP for PMs and maintenance logs
- Calibration (if applicable) completed in ProCal
- Work may involve climbing ladders (up to 10 ft)
- Tools are provided on-site — no personal hand tools required
Candidate Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems
- Must have strong experience with Allen Bradley 5000 PLCs
- Must have FDA-regulated environment experience and knowledge of GMP
- Comfortable working with automated packaging and process equipment
- Willing and able to mentor FTEs of varying experience levels
- Able to work independently and troubleshoot without extensive documentation
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude with a willingness to get hands-on
- Must pass a drug test
- Willing to travel and commit to 3–12 month assignments
- Available for 2nd or 3rd shift work, 50+ hours per week

- $42/hour + guaranteed weekly overtime (paid at time and a half)
