Position Summary

As a Precision Grinder with FlexTrades, you’ll set up and operate Studer cylindrical grinding machines to perform complex ID and OD grinding on a variety of parts and materials. You’ll use advanced tools and inspection equipment to hold tolerances as tight as .0003? and ensure surface finishes meet stringent quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the following Studer precision grinding machines with Fanuc controls:
  • S145 Cylindrical ID Grinder (turret-type with 4 internal grinding spindles)
  • S33 Cylindrical OD Grinder (turret wheel head for external grinding)
  • S45 Angle Head Grinder
  • Perform ID and OD grinding operations on parts ranging from 1? to 16? in length and up to 8? in diameter
  • Grind parts using aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, and CBN wheels (16? diameter)
  • Work with parts made from stainless steel, aluminum, low carbon steel, and coated materials (E-nickel, anodized, hard coat)
  • Maintain tolerances down to .0003? and achieve surface finishes of 16 or better (with some work requiring 8 or 4 finishes)
  • Load parts manually (2–10 lbs.) from shelves or previous operations
  • Follow detailed setup sheets, process drawings, and blueprints with GD&T callouts including runout, position, profile, and perpendicularity
  • Conduct in-process and final quality checks using tools such as:
  • Micrometers, calipers, Starrett optical comparator, height gauges
  • Indicator setups, swede gages, plug gauges, pin gauges, and gage blocks

    Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating precision ID and OD grinding machinery
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and interpreting engineering prints
  • Ability to maintain tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
  • Familiarity with various metals and coatings, including post-heat-treated materials
  • Comfortable working in high-mix, low-volume environments
  • Able to work independently and follow established setup documentation

    Pay and Benefits

  • $45/hour base pay
  • Guaranteed overtime each week (paid at time and a half)
  • Paid travel to and from job sites
  • Paid lodging (single-occupancy hotel room)
  • $45/day per diem
  • Access to full suite of benefits
  • Flexible time off between assignments
  • Assignments range from 3 months to 1 year
  • 2nd and 3rd shift availability (50+ hours/week)

    Position Summary

    As an I&E Technician with FlexTrades, you’ll calibrate, test, and troubleshoot production instrumentation and support electrical maintenance at newly commissioned manufacturing sites. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of startup operations where your expertise directly contributes to production reliability and product quality.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Test and calibrate a wide range of instrumentation including:
    • Frequency drives
    • Humidity, temperature, weight/scale, pressure, and flow sensors
    • Thermal imaging tools, cameras, and level sensors
  • Support instrumentation on production equipment such as Tetra Pak, separators, homogenizers, and mixers used in dairy and cheese production
  • Replace or repair faulty instrumentation and support electrical repairs alongside in-house maintenance techs
  • Assist with the commissioning of new production equipment and instrumentation systems
  • Troubleshoot Allen Bradley and Siemens instrumentation hardware
  • Interface with pick & place Fanuc robots; experience with robotic systems is a plus
  • Calibrate instruments to required specifications and make adjustments as needed
  • Work within PLC systems for troubleshooting (no editing or programming required)
  • Reference and utilize machine manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics during repairs
  • Operate within a SAP CMMS and MES platforms (Ignition and Wonderware)
  • Interpret verbal instructions and document completed work accurately
  • Maintain compliance with FDA and GMP regulations

    Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with pasteurization processes or dairy production environments
  • Prior experience in newly commissioned or greenfield facilities
  • Hands-on work in MES and CMMS environments, especially Ignition and Wonderware
  • Exposure to SAP maintenance systems and work order tracking

    Must-Have Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an FDA/GMP regulated facility
  • Strong background in industrial instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently and think critically in dynamic environments
  • Willingness to assist with commissioning activities and troubleshoot new equipment
  • Flexibility to travel and work various shifts as required
