Job Summary

As a CNC Programmer with FlexTrades, you’ll be responsible for programming 10 new parts on a Doosan Puma SMX3100 mill-turn machine using Esprit 2025. You will work with dual spindles, a B-axis, and a lower turret to execute complex multi-axis machining operations. This is a new machine to the facility, and you’ll play a key role in setup, programming, proving out, and training others on both the hardware and the software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Fanuc 31i controllers, 12-station tool turret, 12” chuck, 26” turning diameter, and 61” turning length
  • Program parts made of Inconel 718 and stainless steel 15-5 from round bar stock (4”–7” diameters, up to 12” long)
  • Consider and document cycle times, setup times, and tooling requirements for new part runs
  • Prove out all programs on the machine alongside FTE programmers and machinists
  • Create models from prints using SolidWorks when needed to improve programming capabilities
  • Understand and apply GD&T (including profile, true position, and concentricity)
  • Design or improve fixtures/tooling; provide feedback on fixturing options
  • Create setup sheets detailing tool lists, inspection checkpoints, and quality requirements
  • Use overhead crane to load/unload heavy materials as necessary
  • Work offline in an office setting and hands-on on the shop floor
  • Train full-time employees (FTEs) in Esprit and CNC mill-turn programming best practices

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong experience programming with Esprit CAM software (2025 preferred)
  • Expertise in 5-axis mill-turn CNC machining with dual spindles and B-axis
  • Proficient in G&M code, blueprint reading, and interpreting imperial engineering drawings
  • Familiar with materials such as Inconel and stainless steel
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (for modeling and setup visualization)
  • Strong grasp of GD&T principles
  • Able to document quality procedures and create detailed setup instructions
  • Comfortable training others and collaborating across teams
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Willing to travel and commit to 3–12 month assignments
  • Available to work 2nd or 3rd shifts with 50+ hours/week
