SMT Operator
FlexTrades is hiring experienced SMT Operators for nationwide project-based manufacturing assignments supporting printed circuit board assembly and electronics production.
This role is designed for operators who can run surface mount technology equipment, follow documented manufacturing processes, complete production records accurately and maintain consistent quality throughout repetitive production workflows.
Position Overview
The SMT Operator will operate production equipment used to manufacture PCBs, PCBAs and CCAs.
This position includes running pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, reflow ovens, SPI and AOI equipment while loading materials, monitoring machine performance, completing production documentation and supporting basic troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Operate SMT production equipment according to established work instructions
- Run pick-and-place machines
- Operate stencil printers
- Operate reflow ovens
- Use SPI equipment during the production process
- Perform automated optical inspection using AOI equipment
- Load materials supplied in tape, reel and tray formats
- Hand place larger components into solder paste when required
- Hand solder larger components when required
- Monitor SMT equipment throughout production
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment
- Address feeder issues as needed
- Complete production documentation accurately
- Maintain traveler records
- Record required process data
- Document lot numbers
- Record oven information
- Maintain required AOI records
- Follow cleanroom procedures
- Follow ESD requirements
- Maintain established quality standards
- Support repetitive production workflows while maintaining attention to detail
Qualifications
- Experience operating SMT equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Experience producing PCBs, PCBAs or CCAs
- Familiarity with pick-and-place machines
- Familiarity with stencil screen printers
- Familiarity with reflow ovens
- Familiarity with SPI equipment
- Ability to follow documented manufacturing processes and procedures
- Experience completing production documentation
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- AOI experience
- Experience working in an AS9100-regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience working in an ISO-regulated manufacturing environment
