Rework Solder Technician
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Rework Solder Technicians for nationwide project-based assignments supporting high-density electronic assemblies and precision circuit board rework.
This role is designed for technicians who are comfortable performing detailed remove-and-replace work on densely populated SMT circuit boards, working under a microscope and maintaining strict soldering and quality standards throughout production.
Position Overview
The Rework Solder Technician will perform precision soldering and component-level rework on PCBs, PCBAs and CCAs.
This position requires hands-on SMT experience, strong microscope soldering skills and the ability to remove and replace small electronic components while following detailed rework instructions, documentation and established quality procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform remove-and-replace rework on densely populated SMT circuit boards
- Remove and install small electronic components
- Perform rework involving fine-pitch components
- Complete soldering and rework under a microscope throughout the workday
- Follow established rework instructions and documentation
- Complete required nonconformance paperwork
- Work with pre-kitted components and materials
- Support trace and pad repairs using established procedures
- Verify completed rework before submitting assemblies for inspection
- Follow ESD requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Identify visual differences between lead-free and tin-lead solder
- Maintain established quality standards while meeting production expectations
Qualifications
- Experience soldering PCBs, PCBAs or CCAs in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with SMT electronic assemblies
- Ability to perform detailed soldering work under a microscope
- J-STD-001 certification required
- IPC-A-610 certification required
- Active or inactive J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 certifications accepted based on start date requirements
- Understanding of lead-free solder applications
- Understanding of tin-lead solder applications
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions
- Ability to maintain established quality standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with fine-pitch electronic components
- Experience working with high-density circuit boards
- Familiarity with 0402 components or smaller electronic components
- J-STD-7711/7721 certification
