Manual ID Honer
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Manual ID Honers for nationwide project-based assignments supporting precision machining and small-lot manufacturing operations.
This role is designed for machinists who can set up and operate manual honing equipment, hold extremely tight internal diameter tolerances and verify finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
Position Overview
The Manual ID Honer will perform precision internal diameter honing on aluminum and stainless-steel components.
This position requires strong machining fundamentals, blueprint and GD&T knowledge, and the ability to work from setup sheets, control plans and inspection requirements while maintaining dimensional accuracy down to .0001?.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual honing equipment
- Hone internal diameters to tight tolerance requirements
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Interpret GD&T callouts
- Follow inspection documentation
- Follow setup sheets and control plans
- Meet established quality inspection requirements
- Verify tool condition
- Verify tool offsets
- Confirm dimensional accuracy
- Perform machine setups and changeovers
- Work with aluminum components
- Work with stainless-steel components
- Maintain quality standards during small production runs
- Support safe material handling and shop operations as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong machining knowledge including tooling, speeds, feeds and material removal
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Understanding of GD&T concepts
- Experience using precision measuring tools
- Experience using micrometers and gauges
- Ability to hold tolerances as tight as .0001?
- Manufacturing experience in a precision machining environment
