Precision Grinder
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Precision Grinders for nationwide project-based manufacturing assignments supporting tight-tolerance machining and precision finishing operations.
This role is designed for machinists who can independently set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinding equipment, interpret complex blueprints and GD&T, and hold extremely tight dimensional tolerances throughout the grinding process.
Position Overview
The Precision Grinder will perform internal and external cylindrical grinding on a variety of components using CNC grinding equipment.
This position requires strong setup skills, experience with wheel dressing and tooling adjustments, and the ability to verify part quality using precision measuring instruments while maintaining strict production and inspection standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinding machines
- Perform precision finish grinding operations
- Complete internal grinding operations
- Complete external grinding operations
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Interpret GD&T requirements
- Follow setup sheets, routers and inspection documentation
- Hold dimensional tolerances ranging from .0001? to .001?
- Dress grinding wheels as required
- True and sharpen grinding wheels
- Maintain grinding wheels throughout production
- Perform tooling offsets
- Validate tooling condition
- Make machine adjustments as needed
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify part quality
- Complete machine setups and changeovers efficiently
- Operate overhead cranes when required
- Follow all established safety requirements
Qualifications
- Direct experience setting up and operating CNC grinding machines
- Experience with CNC cylindrical grinding equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Experience holding tolerances as tight as .0001? to .0005?
- Experience using precision measuring tools and gauges
- Ability to dress, true and sharpen grinding wheels
- Experience making offsets and machine adjustments
- Strong attention to detail and quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls
- Familiarity with G-code and M-code programs
- Overhead crane experience
