Tool & Die Maker
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Tool & Die Makers for nationwide project-based manufacturing assignments supporting progressive stamping and precision tooling operations.
This role is built for skilled tooling professionals who can troubleshoot progressive dies, respond to press downtime and support production stamping operations from setup through startup.
Position Overview
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting progressive stamping dies and related tooling.
This position requires hands-on experience with production stamping presses, in-press troubleshooting, progressive strips and GD&T requirements. Tool & Die Makers will also support changeovers, die installations and production teams throughout daily stamping operations.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair progressive stamping dies and tooling
- Respond to press downtime issues
- Perform in-press troubleshooting and repairs
- Set up and support production stamping presses ranging from 60 tons to 330 tons
- Read and evaluate progressive strips to diagnose tooling and production issues
- Inspect parts during setup and production runs
- Verify parts meet established quality requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, prints and work instructions
- Review and apply GD&T requirements
- Document tooling history and setup information
- Support tool changeovers and die installations
- Support production startup activities
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and overhead cranes
- Work with production personnel to resolve tooling and process issues
Qualifications
- At least five years of Tool & Die, tooling repair or progressive stamping experience
- Progressive stamping experience required
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining progressive dies
- Experience setting up production stamping presses ranging from 60 tons to 330 tons
- Experience performing in-press troubleshooting and responding to press calls
- Knowledge of Wintriss controls
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Knowledge of GD&T requirements
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks and overhead cranes
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards and production quality requirements
- Experience in medical, aerospace or other precision manufacturing environments preferred
