Welder
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Welders for nationwide project-based manufacturing assignments supporting MIG welding, fabrication and production operations.
This role is designed for welders who can read prints, complete layout and fit-up work, set machine parameters and produce quality welds on carbon steel and galvanneal materials.
Position Overview
The Welder will perform MIG welding on fabricated components while supporting layout, fitting, tacking, inspection and finishing work.
This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, knowledge of AWS welding symbols and the ability to produce fillet and groove welds in multiple positions while meeting established quality and production requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on carbon steel and galvanneal materials
- Complete layout, fitting and tacking of weldments
- Read and interpret weld drawings and blueprints
- Interpret AWS welding symbols
- Set welding machine parameters when procedures are not provided
- Produce fillet welds in flat, horizontal and vertical positions
- Produce groove welds in flat, horizontal and vertical positions
- Use weld gauges to verify weld quality and dimensions
- Inspect work for proper fit-up and alignment
- Verify completed work meets quality requirements
- Perform grinding, cleaning and finishing work after welding
- Operate overhead cranes safely
- Operate pallet jacks as required
- Follow established safety, quality and production requirements
Qualifications
- Previous MIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret weld drawings and blueprints
- Knowledge of AWS welding symbols
- Experience performing layout, fitting and tacking
- Experience welding fillet joints
- Experience welding groove joints
- Ability to work with decimals and fractions
- Ability to meet production and quality expectations
- Comfortable performing regular grinding and finishing work
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating overhead cranes
- TIG welding experience
