Spot Welder
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Spot Welders for nationwide project-based assignments supporting sheet metal fabrication and production operations.
This role is designed for welders who can independently set up and operate resistance spot welding equipment, adjust welding parameters, troubleshoot production issues and verify finished parts against blueprint and dimensional requirements.
Position Overview
The Spot Welder will set up and operate resistance spot welding machines while maintaining weld quality, dimensional accuracy and production standards.
This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, hands-on inspection experience and the ability to work with galvanized, galvanneal and aluminum sheet metal. The Spot Welder will also support process improvements and help train team members on proper spot welding practices.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate resistance spot welding machines
- Adjust welding parameters to maintain quality and performance
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
- Perform first-piece inspections
- Complete in-process inspections throughout production
- Verify weld placement against specifications
- Confirm dimensional accuracy of completed parts
- Use calipers and height gauges to inspect components
- Troubleshoot spot welding equipment and production issues
- Use hand tools and grinders during setup activities
- Support process improvements
- Assist with documentation updates
- Train and mentor team members on spot welding best practices
- Maintain strong attention to quality throughout the welding process
Qualifications
- Experience setting up and operating resistance spot welding equipment
- Strong spot welding troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with galvanized sheet metal
- Experience working with galvanneal sheet metal
- Experience working with aluminum sheet metal
- Strong blueprint-reading skills
- Experience performing dimensional inspections
- Proficiency using calipers
- Proficiency using height gauges
- Experience completing first-piece inspections
- Experience performing in-process inspections
- Ability to work effectively with limited instructions or documentation
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to train and mentor other team members
