Machine Shop Fabricator
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Machine Shop Fabricators for nationwide project-based assignments supporting metal fabrication and production operations.
This role is designed for fabricators who can operate a variety of metalworking equipment, read blueprints and bills of materials, and produce accurate parts in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
Position Overview
The Machine Shop Fabricator will operate forming, cutting, drilling and pressing equipment to manufacture parts according to drawings, work instructions and quality requirements.
This position requires strong blueprint reading skills, hands-on metal fabrication experience and the ability to complete machine setups, verify dimensions and adjust processes to maintain part accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Operate roll forming machines
- Operate saws and brake presses
- Operate swagers and flatteners
- Operate drill presses and hydraulic presses
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Work from bills of materials
- Follow detailed work instructions
- Measure parts using tape measures
- Inspect parts using calipers
- Use angle finders and other measuring tools
- Perform roll bending operations
- Cut and trim metal components
- Perform swaging and crimping operations
- Complete drilling and forming work
- Verify finished parts meet print specifications
- Maintain established quality requirements
- Complete machine setups and changeovers
- Adjust parts and processes to maintain dimensional accuracy
- Move materials using overhead cranes and hoists when required
- Use lifting devices safely
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all required safety and quality procedures
Qualifications
- Experience operating metal fabrication equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/32?
- Experience using calipers and other precision measuring tools
- Knowledge of pipe sizes
- Knowledge of pipe schedules
- Understanding of pipe diameters and wall thicknesses
- Experience with metal forming processes
- Experience with metal cutting and bending
- General metal fabrication experience
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Ability to lift and move materials using lifting assistance when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Brake press experience
