Wire Harness Assembler
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Wire Harness Assemblers for nationwide project-based assignments supporting military and aerospace manufacturing operations.
This role is designed for technicians who can build wire harnesses and cable assemblies from engineering drawings, specifications and detailed work instructions while maintaining strict quality and documentation standards.
Position Overview
The Wire Harness Assembler will build military and aerospace wire harnesses and cable assemblies by cutting, stripping, crimping, terminating and routing electrical wiring according to design requirements.
This position requires hands-on wire harness assembly experience, strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow technical drawings, specifications and production documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assemble military wire harnesses
- Assemble aerospace wire harnesses and cable assemblies
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Follow specifications and detailed work instructions
- Cut and mark wires according to design requirements
- Lay out wires for harness assembly
- Strip electrical wiring
- Crimp wire terminals and contacts
- Terminate wiring assemblies
- Install connectors on wire assemblies
- Route wiring into completed harness assemblies
- Connect wiring according to design requirements
- Install wire identification tags and labels
- Use wire cutters and thermo-strippers
- Operate crimp tools
- Use screwdrivers and torque drivers
- Record tool identification numbers
- Record lot numbers and required production information
- Complete production documentation
- Perform pull tests as required
- Complete basic assembly verification
- Maintain established quality standards
- Meet production schedule requirements
Qualifications
- Experience assembling military or aerospace wire harnesses and cable assemblies
- Experience working with Boeing BAC specifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to read technical documentation
- Experience following detailed work instructions and specifications
- Knowledge of wire stripping
- Knowledge of wire crimping and termination
- Experience installing electrical connectors
- Experience using common wire harness assembly hand tools
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong production documentation skills
- Ability to identify missing information and reference the appropriate documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Boeing wire harness or cable assembly experience
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
- Active or inactive IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification accepted
