CNC Programmer
FlexTrades is hiring experienced CNC Programmers for nationwide project-based assignments supporting precision machining operations and complex component manufacturing.
This role is designed for programmers who can create accurate, production-ready CNC programs in Mastercam, work from engineering prints and 3D models, and support machining teams producing tight-tolerance components from challenging materials.
Position Overview
The CNC Programmer will create and improve programs for 3-axis vertical mills and/or CNC slant bed lathes with live tooling.
This position requires strong Mastercam experience, a working knowledge of G-code and M-code, and the ability to translate blueprints, drawings and GD&T requirements into complete CNC programs that require minimal machine-side adjustment.
Responsibilities
- Create CNC programs using Mastercam
- Program complex machined components
- Program 3-axis vertical mills
- Program CNC slant bed lathes with live tooling
- Develop accurate production-ready programs
- Minimize machine-side adjustments through effective programming
- Program from engineering prints and drawings
- Program from 3D models when available
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Interpret dimensions and GD&T requirements
- Write and edit G-code programs
- Write and edit M-code programs
- Troubleshoot existing CNC programs
- Improve programs for machining performance and production needs
- Support machining teams with programming guidance
- Provide technical programming expertise
- Work with high nickel alloys
- Work with stainless steel
- Work with titanium
- Work with aluminum
- Work with composite materials
- Assist with training machinists on programming-related processes
- Mentor machinists on programming best practices
Qualifications
- Experience programming CNC machinery using a recent version of Mastercam
- Experience programming 3-axis vertical mills and/or CNC slant bed lathes with live tooling
- Strong understanding of G-code programming
- Strong understanding of M-code programming
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings
- Experience working with GD&T
- Experience programming tight-tolerance components
- Experience machining and programming high nickel alloy materials
- Ability to create complete CNC programs from prints and drawings

- Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment
