Welder
FlexTrades is hiring experienced Welders for nationwide project-based assignments supporting fabrication and production operations in manufacturing environments.
This role is designed for welders who have hands-on experience with pulse MIG welding, structural steel fabrication and multi-pass welding, and who can work from blueprints, weld symbols and established welding procedures.
Position Overview
The Welder will perform pulse MIG welding on carbon steel components using sheet metal, plate, pipe and tube materials.
This position requires strong fit-up and welding skills, the ability to complete fillet and groove welds, and consistent attention to weld quality throughout the fabrication process.
Responsibilities
- Perform pulse MIG welding on carbon steel components
- Weld sheet metal, plate, pipe and tube materials
- Complete fillet welds according to prints and specifications
- Complete groove welds according to prints and specifications
- Lay out components for welding as required
- Fit and tack components before welding
- Perform multi-pass welding on thicker materials
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Read weld symbols and shop documentation
- Follow work instructions and weld procedures
- Clean completed weldments
- Grind and polish weldments as required
- Inspect completed work for quality
- Correct weld defects as needed
- Operate overhead cranes after required training
- Use material handling equipment as trained
- Maintain a safe and organized work area
Qualifications
- Experience performing MIG welding on steel
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- Experience welding structural steel components
- Experience completing fillet welds
- Experience completing groove welds
- Ability to perform fit-up and layout work
- Ability to tack components before welding
- Experience performing multi-pass welding
- Ability to meet established quality and workmanship standards
- Ability to pass a weld qualification test
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with AWS weld symbols
