Swiss Screw Machinist
FlexTrades is hiring Swiss Screw Machinists for project-based assignments supporting high-precision, tight-tolerance machining environments. This role is built for machinists who can manage frequent setups, hold extreme tolerances, and stay disciplined in documentation and quality control.
If you are comfortable running multiple Swiss machines, working through complex changeovers, and owning your work from setup through inspection, this is your lane.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Swiss machines, typically running two machines at a time
- Perform multiple setups and changeovers throughout the shift
- Operate Citizen Swiss machines with Mitsubishi controls
- Support Star Swiss machines with Fanuc controls, including multi-axis configurations and bar feeders
- Make offsets, adjustments, and perform minor troubleshooting to maintain part quality
- Run established programs and assist with proving out new programs on Star machines
- Complete detailed quality and production documentation
- Work closely with quality teams to complete first piece inspections and in-process checks
- Follow GD&T requirements and maintain tolerances down to ±0.0002 inch
- Identify and recommend process or cycle time improvements
- Train and support full-time employees with limited setup experience
Qualifications
- CNC Swiss machining experience required
- Strong setup and changeover experience
- Ability to read and interpret inch-based blueprints with GD&T requirements
- Experience holding tight tolerances and fine surface finishes, including 16 Ra
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
- Willingness to complete Operator Acceptance Program requirements
- Comfortable working in documentation-heavy environments
- Ability and willingness to train and mentor other team members
