Laser Operator

FlexTrades is hiring experienced Laser Operators for nationwide project-based assignments supporting tube and sheet metal cutting operations.

This opportunity is designed for operators who can set up and run fiber or CO2 laser equipment, complete multiple machine setups and maintain quality in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.

Position Overview

The Laser Operator sets up and operates Trumpf fiber laser machines to cut steel, stainless steel and aluminum components.

This role includes machine setup, tape shots, beam alignment checks, material loading, part inspection and basic equipment maintenance. Operators must be able to troubleshoot machine and quality issues while managing changing setups and production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Trumpf fiber laser machines
• Complete machine setups, tape shots and beam alignment checks
• Cut metal tubes using bevel, straight, miter, notch, slot, tap, tab and etching operations
• Load materials manually and with automated feeding systems
• Operate a sit-down forklift to load materials as needed
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers and tape measures
• Verify dimensional accuracy and part quality
• Troubleshoot machine and quality issues
• Report equipment or production concerns when required
• Label finished parts and move them to the appropriate area
• Manage multiple machine setups while meeting production goals
• Keep laser machines and work areas clean
• Perform basic maintenance tasks, including slat cleaning
• Follow established safety, quality and manufacturing procedures

Qualifications

• Experience setting up and operating fiber or CO2 laser cutting equipment
• Ability to complete multiple machine setups in a high-mix, low-volume environment
• Tube laser cutting experience preferred
• Sheet laser cutting experience accepted
• Ability to read and interpret production documents and work instructions
• Experience using calipers, micrometers and tape measures
• Ability to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to laser operations
• Experience working with steel, stainless steel and aluminum
• Willingness to operate a sit-down forklift
• Strong attention to detail
• Commitment to safety and quality standards

Sit-down forklift training will be provided.
