FlexTrades is hiring Brazers for project-based assignments supporting commercial and industrial production work. This role is built for skilled tradespeople who can cut, bend and braze copper tubing, install refrigeration components and work from technical drawings, BOMs and production schedules.
If you have experience brazing large-diameter piping in a commercial or industrial setting, this is your lane.
Position Overview
Brazers will make and install refrigeration and water subassemblies for production units. This role requires hands-on experience with copper-to-copper, copper-to-stainless and copper-to-brass joints using oxy-acetylene torches, along with the ability to inspect work, resolve defects and support system preparation.
Responsibilities
- Make and install refrigeration and water subassemblies for production units
- Cut, bend and braze copper tubing
- Install refrigeration components
- Perform brazing on copper-to-copper, copper-to-stainless and copper-to-brass joints using oxy-acetylene torches
- Work with piping ranging from 2 1/8 inches to 4 inches or more in diameter
- Clean and prep materials prior to brazing
- Follow production schedules, BOMs, drawings, diagrams, ECNs and work instructions
- Inspect materials and completed work for quality
- Resolve defects as needed
- Assist with pressure testing, evacuation and system preparation
- Use hand tools, gauges and torque equipment
- Install labels
- Perform basic checks on units
- Maintain a clean work area
- Report material or process issues to leadership
Qualifications
- Experience brazing in a commercial or industrial setting
- Ability to braze large-diameter piping beyond residential applications
- Experience with oxy-acetylene torches and silver-based filler materials
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, including metric and standard measurements
- Familiarity with refrigeration or HVAC systems
- Understanding of heat control, joint preparation and working with copper and mixed metals
- Knowledge of high-pressure systems and safe work practices
- Mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools
- Experience with pressure testing, evacuation or refrigerant handling is a plus
- EPA 608 certification, Universal or Type II, is a plus
