Solder Technician
FlexTrades is hiring Solder Technicians for nationwide project-based assignments supporting precision electronics manufacturing and PCB rework operations. This role is built for technicians who understand the importance of clean solder joints, accurate component placement, and careful rework on multi-layer circuit boards.
If you have strong PCB rework experience and are comfortable working with both through-hole and surface mount components, this opportunity aligns with your skill set.
Responsibilities
- Perform rework on multi-layer PCBs ranging from 3 to 6 layers, including removing, flipping, or adding electronic components such as resistors and diodes
- Hand solder new circuit boards once rework is completed
- Operate SMT equipment at the operator level, including setup and teardown when qualified
- Perform both through-hole and surface mount soldering operations
- Work with both lead and lead-free soldering processes
- Follow detailed rework procedures, schematics, bills of materials, and visual references to complete tasks accurately
Qualifications
- Strong PCB rework experience required
- Familiarity with J-STD-001 soldering standards preferred; certification is not required
- Experience operating AOI or SMT equipment preferred
- Ability to identify small electronic components and read part markings; vision test required
- Must demonstrate strong soldering and rework skills
- Must pass a hands-on soldering test including both through-hole and surface mount soldering
