Manual Machinist
FlexTrades is hiring Manual Machinists for nationwide project-based assignments supporting precision repair, rework, and custom machining operations. This role is built for machinists who understand hands-on metalworking, take pride in accuracy, and have the patience to execute long setups the right way. If you are comfortable working with large parts, hard metals, and manual equipment where skill matters more than speed, this is your lane.
Responsibilities
- Set up and run manual machines to work on metal parts
- Repair and rework existing parts to restore proper finish and function
- Machine new parts by drilling and adding required features
- Follow written instructions and drawings for each job
- Check work throughout the process to ensure accuracy
- Ask for guidance from a lead or experienced machinist when needed
Qualifications
Required
- Previous experience working as a manual machinist in a manufacturing or job shop environment
- Experience working with large metal parts
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and drawings
- Comfortable working with stainless steel and other hard metals
- Strong attention to detail and patience for longer setup times
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes for material handling
Preferred
- Experience performing repair or rework machining
- Background in industrial, energy, or heavy equipment manufacturing
- Familiarity with quality-focused manufacturing environments
