CNC Lathe Machinist
FlexTrades is hiring CNC Lathe Machinists for nationwide project-based assignments supporting heavy manufacturing and precision forming operations. This role is designed for machinists who understand large-format metal forming equipment, can follow detailed routings and procedures, and maintain strict dimensional accuracy when working with large steel components.
If you have direct experience operating flanger machines and are comfortable working with heavy materials while performing precise measurements and quality checks, this opportunity aligns with your skill set.
Responsibilities
- Operate flanger machines to form knuckle radius, crown radius, and straight flange profiles
- Change and align flanging balls using overhead cranes and hand tools
- Work with materials ranging from 60 to 168 inches in diameter and 3/16 inch to 1 inch in thickness
- Follow routings and standard operating procedures for material type, ball size, and flange height requirements
- Perform quality inspections including dish radius, circumference, outside diameter, knuckle radius, thickness, and flange height
- Document measurement results and production data accurately
- Safely operate 10 ton overhead cranes for loading and unloading large materials
Qualifications
Required
- Direct experience operating flanger machines (required)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with high attention to detail
- Ability to read routings and standard operating procedures and use precision measuring tools
- Experience operating cranes and working in heavy manufacturing environments
Preferred
- Familiarity with SMT or Schleifstein machines
- Experience forming pressure vessel heads or similar heavy steel components
