Machine Builder
FlexTrades is hiring Machine Builders for nationwide project-based assignments supporting CNC machine rebuilds, mechanical overhauls, and precision machine assembly. This role is built for technicians who understand the mechanical systems that keep large industrial machines running and who take pride in rebuilding equipment the right way from the ground up.
If you have experience tearing down, repairing, and reassembling CNC machines while maintaining strict tolerances and alignments, this opportunity aligns with your skill set.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and rebuild CNC machines including lathes, mills, VTLs, gantry mills, and dual-turret machines
- Perform complete tear-downs, cleaning, sandblasting, grinding, and reassembly
- Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including linear guides, bearings, ball screws, racks, pinions, and spindles
- Set and verify tolerances, alignments, and backlash
- Operate manual lathes, mills, drills, grinders, and saws for component repair
- Assist with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and support CNC or PLC work when required (Fanuc and Siemens)
- Perform precision leveling and quality checks
- Operate cranes up to 20 tons along with forklifts, jibs, hoists, and rigging equipment
- Participate in machine testing and customer-site acceptance when required
- Work closely with team members, project managers, and support staff throughout the rebuild process
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical background with machine building or machine overhaul experience
- Hands-on experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read engineering drawings and perform precision alignment
- Experience performing full mechanical rebuilds rather than simple part replacement
- Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts (training available)
- Ability to bring a personal set of standard hand tools
- Strong teamwork, communication, and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC or PLC experience including Fanuc and Siemens systems
- Laser leveling experience
- Tube or conduit bending experience (training available)
- Experience working with large or heavy industrial machinery
