Mold Process Technician

Position Overview
As a Mold Process Technician with FlexTrades, you will troubleshoot and optimize injection molding processes across a wide range of machines and part specifications. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining quality standards, adjusting process parameters, and preventing downtime. This role is ideal for those who are hands-on, analytical, and thrive in a high-performance production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with injection molding machines ranging from 55T to 3000T (brands include KraussMaffei, Milacron, Van Dorn, Engel, Husky, and Toyo)
- Adjust process parameters using machine controls (Fanuc and others)
- Operate and troubleshoot hot runner molds with valve gates (required experience)
- Work with molds featuring single and multi-cavity tooling, with cavitation ranging from 2 to 16
- Monitor machines running polypropylene, with occasional runs of polycarbonate and polystyrene
- Ensure quality output by referencing process sheets, programs, and quality documentation
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) and document all quality-related activity
- Recognize and correct cycle time and part quality issues before they impact production
- Use overhead cranes and perform rigging as needed (training provided)
- Assist setup technicians with process verifications (though not responsible for setup or operation)
- Interface with robots integrated into the equipment and take corrective action when necessary
- Follow LOTO procedures to support maintenance and setup operations
Qualifications
- Experience adjusting and troubleshooting injection molding processes is required
- Must have valve gate hot runner system experience
- Ability to understand process parameters: velocity, transfer position, pack & hold
- Familiarity with robots integrated into molding equipment is preferred
- Must be highly attentive to quality and able to perform detailed inspections
- Ability to work independently and call for additional support when necessary
- Must be intentional, proactive, and capable of identifying production issues before they escalate
- English and Spanish reference materials available; bilingual ability is a plus
- No tools required; all necessary equipment will be provided
Pay and Benefits
- $40/hour base pay + guaranteed overtime each week (paid at time and a half)
- Paid travel to and from job sites
- Paid lodging (single-occupancy hotel room)
- $45/day per diem
- Access to full suite of benefits
- Flexible time off between assignments
- Assignments range from 3 months to 1 year
- 2nd and 3rd shift availability with 50+ hours/week
