CNC Grinding Operator
FlexTrades is hiring CNC Grinding Operators for nationwide project-based assignments supporting precision finishing and tight-tolerance manufacturing environments. This role is built for machinists who understand grinding and honing processes, can maintain part accuracy at the micron level, and take ownership of quality throughout production.
If you have experience operating ID and OD grinders, surface grinders, or honing equipment and can consistently hold tight tolerances on small precision components, this opportunity aligns with your skill set.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of grinding and honing machines including cylindrical ID and OD grinders, surface grinders, and Sunnen hone machines
- Load, run, unload, and inspect parts in a high-mix, low-volume production environment
- Monitor machine performance and make minor offset adjustments to compensate for tool or wheel wear
- Perform first piece inspections and in-process quality checks according to control plans
- Work with small precision components, typically under 3 inches in diameter
- Maintain consistent part quality and surface finish throughout production runs
Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC grinding machines including ID, OD, surface, or centerless grinders or honing equipment required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints in inch format with a basic understanding of GD&T
- Experience using precision measuring tools and gauges
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain tolerances up to ±0.001 inch
- Experience working with plastic or composite materials preferred
