Plating Engineer
FlexTrades is hiring Plating Engineers for nationwide project-based assignments supporting high precision plating, chemical process control, and advanced metal finishing operations. This role is designed for engineers who understand the science behind plating, know how to reduce scrap through root cause analysis, and can mentor teams in process discipline and continuous improvement. If you have deep experience with gold, nickel, copper, silver, and challenging alloys, this work will feel familiar and rewarding.
Required Qualifications
- Experience plating gold, nickel, copper, and silver
- Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, beryllium copper, and copper materials
- Scrap reduction methodology experience
- Ability to train and mentor teams on correct procedures
- Ability to write and revise SOPs, recipes, and process instructions
Key Responsibilities
- Work with both the production floor plating area and office personnel
- Learn and understand the full plating process within the facility and at suppliers
- Complete RCCA work with non-conforming parts to identify root cause and corrective actions
- Implement corrective actions including modifying work instructions, SOPs, control documents, recipes, QC documents, and plating reference materials
- Analyze chemicals and additives used in current plating operations
- Track scrap, document what occurred prior to scrap, and define corrective actions to prevent recurrence
